You might be wondering about pickle juice cocktails, and thinking what on earth?

 Pickle juice is being touted everywhere as the new superfood, in fact anything fermented is getting attention. Sourdough, Kombucha, Kefir etc  Pickle juice contains vitamins and minerals, and because it’s a fermented food, it’s good for your digestive system. It also has a salty taste, which in addition to the other flavour of whatever was in in makes pickle juice or pickle brine an excellent flavour addition to cocktails. You want to use it where the salt in the brine is either the focus of the drink or balances with the other flavours.

We need to be clear that there is a difference between brine and vinegar.

Brine you get from something like Gherkins Or olives.

You might regret pouring the vinegar from your Haywards Christmas pickled onions and mixing it with your finest Bourbon. But then you might like that flavour.
