Vesper

The Classic Vesper Martini of Gin, Vodka and Lillet Blanc made famous by Ian Fleming, having had it created by Gilberto Preti at Dukes Bar in St James’.

This is a 5 sip drink, not 2 gulps. You want to remember the evening.

Don’t whatever you do use flavoured gin or vodka for this.

London Dry Gin such as the classic No3 London Dry Gin from Berry, Bros and Rudd www.bbr.com

In place of Lillet Blanc, use a good Olorosso or Vermut from Fernando De Castilla http://fernandodecastilla.es/en/others/

1 part gin

1 part vodka

2 parts Olorosso or 1 part Olorosso and 1 part Ximinez , or 2 parts Vermut.

Garnish: lime peel and mint

Stir the liquid ingredients in a mixer filled with ice and strain into a cocktail glass or for a longer drink, a tall glass with 1/3 crushed ice.

Garnish with the lime and mint.
